The Mission Accomplished Program is designed by Scarborough Zero Waste to help community group members empower their leadership or colleagues to take action and reduce waste. The program consists of videos, flyers, and booklets.
The program is also a monthly online meeting. During those meetings, the sustainable teams within the community group share wins and plan next steps for their work as it transitions to sustainability.
AT THE BEGINNING
The community eco leaders will join the SZW monthly meeting to brainstorm ways to reduce waste at a specific event or location.
The eco team will be granted access to a platform and will hopefully feel empowered to reduce waste at their event.
Your group's team will test the best waste reduction practices in their environment and will be invited to collect key information to create a baseline profile of the situation.
AT THE END
The team will be invited to report back thanks to a short, informal presentation at a SZW monthly meeting. During this meeting, they will identify the most accurate next steps the community group could take to reduce the amount of waste generated. The presentation might be integrated into the platform as an example to follow.
The sustainable team will report to its own community group leadership and hopefully make a local difference in the long term.
The platform offers valuable resources that community members can use to reduce waste autonomously.
